I fond memories of Lindley when he was hanging out with my brother Jack Etter, I was always the bratty little girl! My father was his Boy Scout leader and there were several camp outs in our yard. Lindley also shares the same birthday as my brother. Rest In Peace ...

I had the pleasure to work with Dr. Diacon off and on the past 6 years in the lab. He's was such a sweet and caring man. He always took the time to ask how I was doing as well as my family. He was very proud to be a grandpa, and loved bragging about his grandbaby. His door was always open if you needed something. My prayers and thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

I had the privilege of working with Dr Diacon first at St Mary's and then throughout his career at Mercy. I attribute Dr Diacon for saving my life. I had an ultrasound which ended up showing I had cancer. It was labor day weekend and he called me to say " I know your Dr is out of town on vacation, so I wanted to let you know." I am so sorry Pam. Thinking my Dr would call me when he returned I waited. However as sometimes happened before the electronic medical record, my report got lost in the stacks of paperwork. If it had not been for Dr Diacon's call of concern, I would have went on about my way thinking everything was fine. But thank God for him caring enough to make that call. May he ever rest in peace.

I only met Lin and Glenda twice. The first was at Aaron and Rachel's engagement party and the second at their wedding. I could tell they were ecstatic over this union, as it was so obvious that they knew what a good marriage was all about. Lin was so gracious and kind. I am deeply saddened at his loss. I'm praying for comfort for his entire family and extended family.

Kristen, We had the honor of getting to spend some time with your family before, during and even a little after Your wedding. What a precious family! Your dad was alway very kind and welcoming to our family and it was obvious he loved his kids and was so proud of you all. Our hearts are broken for you and the whole family. We so wish we were able to make the trip to celebrate his life with you tomorrow. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers for a long time as God guides you thru this new portion of your journey. As per your wishes, instead of flowers, Shelby, Rick and I are sending funds to a young couple in our church. Coty is currently at MD Anderson receiving treatment for a brain tumor. We love you! I worked with Lin for 26 years, most of that time just down the hall. A normal part of the day for many of us at RMC was to sit and visit a few minutes with Lin, sometimes medical and sometimes social. He was a remarkable store of medical information and elevated our obstetric care a great deal. I bragged/promoted his skill and ability often. He was of the highest professional caliber and truly a hidden medical jewel in a small clinic in a small town. On the social side, many a drama includes the calm, wise, kind character that the other character learn and reference as they grow. Yoda, Gandalf, Dumbledore, Mr. Miagi, the better sort of pastor, the grandfather or uncle some of us had..... I see Lin as one of those people. It appears that many of his many friends felt the same. I'm happy to have known and worked with him. My life is enriched.

I knew Lindley for many years as a friend and as a supporter of our diagnostic medical sonography program. What impressed me the most about this wonderful person was his passion for using sonography to help others, his very positive outlook on life, and his calm, relaxed demeanor. It was an honor to work with Dr. Diacon, the kindest and most generous of people. He was always thinking of others, praising the staff (usually undeserved in my case), lifting us all up everyday. The Mercy family was blessed to have him. I can only hope to have a fraction of the kindness, generosity and grace that he showed us everyday. May your memories bring you comfort and joy in the difficult days ahead.

I met Dr. Diacon last July when I joined Mercy as the new Clinic Manager for RMC. From the beginning, Dr. Diacon was warm, friendly and very welcoming. He always asked how I was doing and what he could do for me. I've worked with over 50 Physicians over my career and rarely does a Physician stop to ask what he can do for someone else other than his patients. I would always reply, "Dr. Diacon, I'm here to see what I can do for you." He would always ask about my daughter who is very close in age to Della Mae. We'd talk about the joy they brought our families. I always got a kick out of our chats because he's always throw in a little harmless work gossip ( which I knew nothing about because 1. I was the boss and 2. I was new and didn't know anyone well enough to have the inside scoop). Over this past year, I grew to adore him, our talks, his brilliant mind and his heart of gold. I admired how fiercely he advocated for his team of coworkers for ultrasound and dexa. It was wonderful to hear from his family today at his memorial service. What a legacy he has left behind. God bless your family!

For those of us fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Lindley Diacon it was truly a life changing event. Whether a brief encounter or a friendship developed over the decades, his compassion, wisdom, gentle demeanor and genuine caring left a lasting impression on everyone he touched. A Renaissance man possessed with innumerable gifts and talents, Lindley graciously shared all he had with no expectation of accolades or gratitude - he understood the act of giving reaps its own rewards. His humility was sincere, as was his desire to live his life as impeccably as humanly possible. The only person he ever judged was himself, and that was simply as a measurement in his eternal quest for self-improvement and self-realization. Although a God-fearing and reverent man, there was also a gleam in his eyes that forewarned of certain irreverence and playfulness that so appropriately balanced his soul and made him even more endearing.
On September 10, 2017, the man some of us knew as “Bird” spread his wings and took flight to the heavens. While I will greatly miss our thought-provoking discussions of topics from mystic to mundane, divine to inane, and the ever-puzzling paradox of life, I shall not miss the man since I know his spirit and light will continue to guide me on my journey through life. His legacy will also continue in the lives of his family, colleagues and friends as they honor his life’s work by aspiring to be as enlightened as he was and, indeed, still is. Thank you, kind sir, for the love you shared and the inspiration you gave us all to improve our lives and make this world a little better place. Godspeed, my friend.
