Susan Elaine Eiler, 71, of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers.
She was born February 5, 1948 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Carte and one brother, Ricky Carte. Susan is survived by two sons, Matt Eiler and wife Carolyn of Fayetteville and Chad Eiler and wife Cindy of Bentonville; two grandchildren, Bailey and Gracie Eiler; one brother, Philip Carte and wife Casey of Boerne, Texas; several members of her extended family and many, many dear friends.
Although she was born in Oklahoma, Susan spent her formative years in Texas, graduating from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena in 1966. While in Texas, she worked in the banking industry and opened the first checking account for the famous country-western club Gilley's. After moving to Northwest Arkansas in 1976, she embarked on a career in retail, dressing Bentonville in style for many years with her shops, PJ's and Ms. Betty's, and remained a true fashionista for the rest of her life. After her retail career, she worked at several businesses in the area before becoming the primary caregiver for both of her parents.
Following their passing, Susan embarked on her favorite career yet - volunteering in the community. Her tireless efforts for everything from Havenwood to the Bentonville Film Festival made a huge impact. But the most indelible impact came from Susan herself. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone she met. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her loved ones. She loved to laugh and have fun, and that infectious spirit could brighten even the darkest days.
More than anything, though, Susan loved her family, especially being MeMe to her two granddaughters. There can never be another like her, and she will be forever missed.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Meteor Guitar Gallery, 128 W. Central Ave, in downtown Bentonville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Susan's name to Havenwood, 808 N. Main St., Bentonville, AR, 72712.
