Welcome to the memorial page for

Margery Bernice (Anderson) Strauch

April 17, 1920 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 97)

Margery Bernice Anderson Strauch, 97, of Rogers, Arkansas died peacefully at home, January 6, 2018.  She was born April 17, 1920 in Heron Lake, Minnesota to Lars and Martha (Rasmussen) Anderson.  She grew up in Windom, MN where she graduated from high school.

She went to college for one year and studied home economics but dropped out after breaking her ankle.  She really wanted to be an architect but that was not a field for women in the late 1930’s.

Margery moved around some after leaving college.  She worked in her aunt’s Christian book store in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She moved to California for a while where she claimed she was always cold.  She also lived in Chicago during the war and spoke of dancing with the G.I’s at the USO and living in a one bedroom apartment with several other women.

She eventually moved back to Minneapolis and worked. A mutual friend introduced her to Louis Strauch.  They soon married and had three children they raised in Plymouth, MN.

Margery loved to cook and bake and was always trying new recipes.  She had many hobbies which included painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, candle making, furniture refinishing and caning chair seats.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.  Her love was evident in every act she performed, no matter how great or small.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Strauch; her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Doris Anderson.

Survivors include three children, David Strauch, Mary Burton, Rebecca Strauch; one grandson, Raymond Burton; two nieces, Shirley Elmore and Pauline Mathews and their families and many extended family members.

Memorial services will be at 1:00PM, Friday, January 12, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, Ark.  with the Rev. Melissa Ehrhardt officiating.

Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd, Minnesota at a later date.
