Jean Leslie Brashears

February 4, 1944 ~ September 18, 2018 (age 74)

Jean L. Brashears 74, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away September 18, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers.  She was born February 4, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Edward Spangler and Sophie Figorski Spangler.

She was compassionate and full of  laughter. She loved her kids and especially took great pride in being a grandma.

Her early work experience utilized her bookkeeping skills. Jean’s later years were full of adventure while spent dispatching and driving a semi truck across the country with her husband, Wilson.

Jean had a tremendous artistic talent.  Her beautiful oil paintings remain as a lasting treasured memory.

For those that knew Jean her hopeful attitude and heartfelt laughter filled each conversation.  One can recall that even a time or two she might even interject a, ”what hun?” Her laugh was infectious! Jean would be the first to share with you the miracles she witnessed in her life and share about how God provided for her in special & specific ways.   Jean’s compassion spread throughout and she certainly left the thumbprint of the Lord on each person she knew.  Her favorite reading was Psalm 23, and was read to her during her home going as she entered into the presence of the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her precious father in WWII; grandparents from Poland; her uncle, Bill; her mother, Sophie; and her husband, Wilson Brashears.

Jean is survived by three children, Marcia Teel of Rogers, Michelle McCartney and husband, Samuel of Lynchburg, Virginia and Dennis Teel and wife, Andrea of Stafford, Virginia; step-daughter, Sue Howerton and husband, Eric of Fayetteville, AR; and four grandchildren, Megan and Michael McCartney, Will and Mallory Howerton.

Jean loved the poem, “Footprints in the Sand”.  She always relied on the Lord and understood that it was the Lord carrying her through life’s circumstances. He certainly has as she entered into the gates of glory for eternity, with her daughters holding each of her  hands lifting up songs and prayers.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones.  Psalms 116:15

A celebration of Jean’s life will be Friday, September 21, 2018 from 12:00noon until 2:00PM, with the service beginning at 1:30PM at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel in Rogers.
