Janet Darlene (Merscham) Schnider

March 17, 1944 ~ May 23, 2018 (age 74)

Janet Darlene Schnider, 74, of Garfield, Arkansas passed away, Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at home. She was born March 17, 1944, in Walla Walla, Washington to Lloyd and Mavis Kimmell Merscham.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working in her yard and nurturing her beautiful flowers. She would spend most of the day outdoors mowing, watering, planting and drinking coffee.

Janet enjoyed all the holidays surrounded by family especially the Fourth of July where she hosted the entire family at Beaver Lake. At times, there would be over 30 family members and 10 dogs gathering at the lake house. She loved taking care of others and would spend hours preparing huge quantities of food and so many desserts one couldn’t even count them.

She was married to her high school sweetheart for 55 years. Janet enjoyed traveling with him throughout their lives where ever his job took them. Together, they have seen most of the Unites States.

Janet said the one thing she could always be proud of was the role she played in raising her daughters and seeing how well they turned out and what they have done with their lives. She loved spending time with her grandchildren playing silly games with them when they were little and also the times they stayed with her as they grew older.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lloyd Guy Merscham, Jr. and Gary Wayne Merscham; brother-in-law, Gary Dryden and sister-in-law, Mary Merscham.

Janet is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard Schnider; two daughters, Tammy Hubbart and husband, Tony of Augusta, Kansas, Tawny Sandifer and husband, Bob of Pittsburg, Kansas; five grandchildren, Brady and fiancé Haleigh, Brittni, Braxton, Grant and Logan; one great-grandson, Ryker; one brother, Clay Merscham and wife, Margerita and three sisters, Judy Dryden, Cheri Gartin and husband, John and Rosalyn Liggatt and husband, Larry.
