Andrew Jackson Lee, III
April 8, 1948 - September 5, 2016
New Smyrna Beach, Florida
Andrew Jackson Lee, III, 68, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, died Monday,
September 5,  2016 while visiting his family in Bentonville, AR.

He was born in Harrisburg, PA on April 8, 1948, and was raised in Bentonville,
AR.  Andy graduated from Bentonville High School, and received an Associate’s
Degree in Police Science from Indiana Hills Community College. Between high
school and college, Andy served as an officer for the Motor Unit at Metropolitan
Police Department in Washington, DC for ten years. It was during this time that
he pulled over a young woman, Holly Roehrig, for an illegal U-turn. She stole his
heart, and the rest is history.  They were married on May 26, 1973 in Washington,
DC.

Andy and his family later moved to Bentonville, AR, where he got involved in
local politics, serving first as a Bentonville City Council member, and then as the
executive director of the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce. In 198
8
he was elected Sheriff of Benton County, and served successfully in that capacity
for 14 years. His tenure included the construction of the current state-of-the-art
Benton County Jail in Bentonville, AR where he posted his own version of the
Ten Commandments, and did not allow television, tobacco or hot meals. After
retiring from law enforcement, Andy worked as a licensed realtor and builder.

Andy and Holly moved to New Smyrna Beach in 2007. Andy was an
accomplished builder, and spent much of his retirement years remodeling homes,
including his current house, where family and friends were frequent visitors and
always welcome. He was passionate about politics, weightlifting, and family, but
most of all he loved doing those things with his wife Holly. In their later years the
two were commonly seen together at the gym, where Andy was never shy,
boasting proudly about his chest muscles!

Andy was a captivating story teller, regaling everyone with stories that ranged from
childhood tales to family events, but most often, his law enforcement adventures.
He had a big heart and was always willing to help others, something that became
apparent to anyone who met him. Andy grew to love the beach life and lived so
happily until the day before his 43rd wedding anniversary May 25, 2016, when his
beloved wife Holly died. That day a part of Andy died too.  The loss of her
proved to be far too great for his heart  to recover, dying a few months later in the
early morning on September 5th, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson Lee II and Thelma
Mae Lee, his brother Walter Reese and sister Dixie Carmack.

He is survived by his four children; Andrew J. Lee IV of Bentonville, AR, Jessica
and Seth Garner of Fayetteville, AR, Travis and Jennifer Lee of Cave Springs,
AR, and Allison Lee of Bentonville, AR; and 10 grandchildren; Taylor, Tia,
Andrew, Caleb, Gracie, Cam, Kennedy, MacKenzie, Alexis, and Christopher;
siblings, Caroline and Jim Anderson, Robert and Linda Lee, Andrea and Mike
Ross, Hattie
Lee and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday September 9, 2016 at Cross
Church at Pinnacle Hills in Rogers, AR
with Pastor Jeff Crawford officiating.
Following the service there will be a procession and final salute at the Benton
