Richard Marvis Brock, 77, was born June 2, 1932 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Glen C. Brock, and
Elizabeth Pearl Reed Brock.
Richard M. Brock was an adventurous soul. He loved traveling the United States, Mexico, and
Canada by motor home, motorcycle, flying his own planes, and building and racing his own
sprint cars. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and an avid sports
fan, especially when rooting for the Razorbacks.
Richard spent most of his life as a farmer in the Hardy and Renwick, Iowa area, as well as
Paris, Texas. He also lived in Mesa, Arizona before settling in Bella Vista for retirement.
Richard loved to camp and fulfilled a lifelong dream in recent years by traveling in his motor
home to various parts of the country including the Cherry Festival in Travers City, Michigan
and a favorite destination, South Texas where he wintered last year. He was an active deacon
and member of the United Methodist Church of Renwick. Most recently he was a bus driver
for 15 years with the Pea Ridge Arkansas School District.
Richard is survived by his wife of 25 years Marilyn (Dedy) Bailey Brock of the home, a
brother, Gordon Brock and his wife Esther of Humboldt, Iowa; a son, Greg Brock and wife
Sandy of Paris, Texas; daughters Deb Torgerson and husband Craig of Des Moines, Iowa and
Pam Connelly and husband Chris of Rogers, Arkansas. His daughter Cindy Brock preceded
him in death.
Richard is also survived by step daughter Julie Del Barto of Arlington, Texas; step sons Rick
Del Barto and wife Nikki of Cedar Park, Texas and Joe Del Barto and wife Lucia of Mesa,
Arizona; grandchildren, Tim Harvey and wife Jeanette of Des Moines, Iowa, Melissa Phinney
and husband Josh of Rogers, Arkansas, Ryan Torgerson and Rachel Torgerson of Des
Moines, Iowa, Angie Jones, Melissa Boswell, Jonathan Smith of Paris, Texas, Alec Davis of
Des Moines, Iowa, Ashley, Kara and Hannah Del Barto of Cedar Park, Texas; Josh Faith, Joey
DeSantis and Justin, Grace and jack Del Barto of Mesa, Arizona; also one great granddaughter,
Leah Claire Phinney and seven step great grandchildren of Paris, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10:00AM Tuesday October 27, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church
of Rogers with The Rev. Jeff Parks officiating. A private family committal service will be on
Wednesday October 28, 2009 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Paris Texas.
Visitation will be 5-7:00PM Monday October 25, 2009 at Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.
