Catherine Stewart Wuest died on March 2, 2010 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House of
Jonesboro, surrounded by her children and two of her granddaughters. Mrs. Wuest, a former
resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, had resided in Jonesboro since 2001. Mrs. Wuest was born
in San Antonio, TX on Oct. 31, 1920. She was a graduate of Karnes City, TX High School and
attended Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, TX. Catherine Stewart and Charles Henry
Wuest were married on May 1, 1943 by her father, the Rev. George E. Stewart. Mrs. Wuest
was a lifelong Southern Baptist, the daughter, granddaughter, and sister of Baptist preachers.
A military wife and mother, Mrs. Wuest lived in Japan in1950-52 during the Korean War, in
Germany from 1956-59 during the Hungarian Revolution and Lebanon Missile Crisis, and
Connecticut, Maryland, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas while her husband Charles remained
on active duty in the US Army. She and her husband Charles retired in Fayetteville, AR in
1961, with their children, and lived there until moving to St. Bernard's Village in Jonesboro.
She is survived by her children, Anne Arkins and husband James of Bentonville, AR, Carol
Couch and husband Lonnie of Jonesboro, AR, and Charles Wuest and wife Linda of Houston,
TX, nine grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wuest was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles Henry Wuest,
her parents, the Rev. George E. Stewart and Willie Turner Campbell of Austin, TX, 2 brothers,
Carroll Stewart of Bay City, TX and George Stewart of San Antonio, TX, and 2 sisters, Ruth
Barnard of Austin, TX, and Hazel Heineke, of Lamarque, TX.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 4:00-6:00PM at Stockdale Funeral
Services in Rogers, AR.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:00AM at Fellowship Bible Church
of Northwest Arkansas in Lowell, AR on Pleasant Grove Road. Graveside will be at the
National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR following the service.
