William “Morris” Wilcox, 73, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Friday, May 27, 2011 at St.
John’s Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was born July 13, 1937 in
Greenville, Mississippi to William Edward Wilcox and Ruth Roberts Wilcox.
Morris was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was a friend to
everyone he met, always willing to lend a helpful hand. With an extensive knowledge of
plants and wildlife, Morris loved gardening and spending time outdoors. He was a self
taught artist who painted many pictures of his experiences on the river and that of nature.
Morris enjoyed cooking and sharing his recipes with others.
Morris began his professional career as a forester in Greenville. He later worked in sales
for Sears and Roebuck before returning to the outdoors as a river boat pilot on the
Mississippi River. After relocating to Northwest Arkansas to be closer to his children
and grandchildren, Morris served in a technical role for 15 years in Facilities Monitoring
with Wal-Mart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Morris is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Rose Wood Wilcox; two sons, Lynn
Morris Wilcox and wife Mary of Rogers, Phillip Daniel Wilcox of Germantown, TN; one
daughter, Sally Elyse Woodard and husband Bubba of Bentonville, AR; two brothers,
Wayne Wilcox of Paragould, AR, Tyrone Wilcox of Bismark, MO; two sisters, Hazel
Provis of Greenville, Dolores Walls and husband Buster of Olive Branch, MS; four
grandchildren, Matthew Wilcox of Hampton, VA, Sarah Michelle Wilcox of Fayetteville,
AR, Meghan Wilcox of Germantown, TN, and Taylor Wilcox of Columbia, SC.
Memorial services will be Sunday, June 5th, 2011 at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Mildred
B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, AR with Jarrod Hankins officiating.
