D.L. (Doc) Valliant, 94, died July 7, 2011 in Rogers, Arkansas.  He was
born Oct. 11, 1916 at home near Anson, TX.  His wife of 55 years,
Juanita, died in 1995. He was the fourth and youngest child of the late
William and Lena Valliant.  His three siblings, Raymond, Alberta, and
Harold preceded him in death.  Survivors include his son Richard Valliant,
daughter-in-law Carla Maffeo of Potomac, MD, and granddaughter,
Joanna Valliant of Brooklyn, NY.  He is also survived by seven nieces and
three nephews.
       Mr. Valliant served in the Army in World War II and was a farmer in
Texas and Northwest Arkansas where he moved in 1951.  He was active
in the local Soil & Water Conservation District and the Farm Bureau.  In
1961 he was made a supervisor of the Benton County District.  In 1966 he
was elected a Vice President in the Arkansas Association of Soil & Water
Conservation Districts for a 12 county area in Northwest Arkansas.  He
was an avid gardener and golfer, participating in the Ozark Mountain Golf
Association weekly amateur tournaments for 50 years.  Through 2010 the
OMGA staged the Doc Valliant Year-End Tournament, named in his
honor.  
       Services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 3pm, at Stockdale
Funeral Chapel in Rogers.  A visitation will be held at Stockdale from
1-3pm prior to the service.  Burial will be at the Rogers City Cemetery at
510 South 10th Street in Rogers immediately following the services.  In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New York Center for Autism
(http://www.nycacharterschool.org/).
