Paul Douglas Speer, 63 of Pea Ridge, AR died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at UAMS in Little
Rock.
He was born April 29, 1946, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Rev. W.R. Speer and Hazel Hunter Speer.
Paul graduated from Potosi (Missouri) High School in 1964.  He received an associate’s degree
from Central Baptist College in Conway, and his BA degree in Biblical Studies from
Southeastern Bible College in Laurel, Mississippi.  Paul served in several Baptist Missionary
Association churches where he was a music director, youth director, educational director,
deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the United States Army, and was stationed in
Germany.  He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church and served as their accountant from
1993 to 2003.  
Paul moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1990 with his family. He loved baseball and was an avid
St. Louis Cardinal’s and Arkansas Razorback’s fan.
Paul loved traveling, especially to Colorado, and enjoyed photography.  But of all the things Paul
enjoyed,  his most joy came from loving and being with his wife, children, grandchildren, and
extended family.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years Phyllis D. Robinson Speer of the home; a son Derek
Speer and his wife Gretchen, of Rogers; two daughters Alicia Smith and her husband John of
Coffeyville, Kansas; Cara Speer of Rogers; 6 brothers Don Speer and his wife Carolyn of
Rogers, James Speer and his wife Barbara, of Gary, Texas; John Speer and his wife Jan of
Rison, Arkansas; Charles Speer and his wife Linda of Little Rock; David Speer and his wife
Angie of Waxahachie, Texas; Ben Speer and his wife Melissa of Lakeland, TN;  two sisters
Joyce Fagala and her husband Dan of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Mary Ceren and her husband Dale
of Spring, Texas; 5 grandchildren AnnaKathryn Smith, Hunter Smith, Deven Speer, Amelia
Speer, and Sadie Speer.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday, April 2, 2010, in the Training Center at Fellowship
Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas with Pastor Robert Cupp and Pastor Mickey Rapier
officiating.  Burial will be in the Rogers City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30AM prior to the service on Friday in the Training Center at
Fellowship Bible Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in honor of Paul Speer to The
Samaritan House, 1211 West Hudson Road, Rogers, AR 72757.
