Mary Schnathorst
November 21, 1910-December 26, 2011
Rogers, Arkansas
Today, Monday, December 26, 2011 , Heaven welcomed Mary Schnathorst, a Godly gracious
woman, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and true
friend.   All who knew her will miss her greatly.

After retiring from 45 years at Hansen & Hansen Law Firm in Des Moines, Iowa,  Mary
dedicated her time, energy and love to her family.  She lived all of her married and adult life in
the house she and her late husband Gilbert Schnathorst built on 11th Street in Des Moines,
where they raised their 3 daughters, Gloria, Janet and Julie.  Mary continued to live in her home
until 2006 when she moved to Rogers, Arkansas and resided at Innisfree Senior Living
Community. Mary enjoyed the activities, peaceful atmosphere and the new friends she made.
She was surrounded by her family who visited daily.  She also attended family gatherings and
took a cruise with Julie to the Bahamas where she was known to say “she had the best time of
her life.”

Mary was truly blessed by God with long life (101  years), good health and a sound mind.  She
was vital and active; and was known for her wit and wisdom.  Mary was the kind of woman
who opened her heart to those in need and who also spoke her mind to those that needed it.
Most importantly, she was a good mother always putting her family first.

Mary loved the Lord and was a life long member of the Catholic Church.  In her 90’s she
chose to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was born again.   She embodied the spirit of
a true believer and her faith was steadfast, never wavering.  Her hope was that all those she
loved would answer the “knock at their heart” and answer it.  She truly “walked the walk” and
was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Mary is preceded in her new spiritual life by her parents and siblings, husband, Gilbert
Schnathorst and survived by three daughters; Gloria Welp of Newton, IA, Janet Heckart of Des
Moines, IA, Julie Hoggard of Rogers, AR; one sister, Amelia Zoutte of Knoxille, IA; nine
grandchildren, Randy Welp, Jolene Welp, Margaret Ann Helt, Jeannie Davis, Rhonda Springer,
Ronnie Polson, Rich McDonough, Mike McDonough, Jill Vaughan; twelve great-grandchildren
and four great-great grandchildren.

A visitation and time of sharing memories will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday,
December 28, 2011 at Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers.  After the visitation in Arkansas,
Mary’s service will continue on to Des Moines, IA for the service for family and friends that
wish to pay their respects to a woman we all cared about deeply.

Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Circle of Life Legacy Village, 900 NE Verdant,
Bentonville, AR  72712

May she rest in peace in the name of Jesus.
