Mildred Catherine Payton, 101, of Bentonville, Arkansas passed away on
Wednesday, August 10th, 2011at Bradford House in Bentonville. She was
born October 22nd, 1909 in Truro, Iowa to Niles and Ethel Jones.
She studied business and played basketball at the University of Commerce
in Des Moines, Iowa. She farmed with her husband in Iowa, Washington
State, and Arkansas. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, and was an
avid reader. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and
cooking for them.
Mildred was married to Clifford Arthur Payton on June 28th, 1929 in
Chicago, IL. They were married for 56 wonderful years.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford, their
infant son, Conrad Allen Payton, and one brother, Robert Jones.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Lee Brown and husband Don
of Soldotna Alaska, and Sherry Ann Harris and husband Jim of
Bentonville, Arkansas; her brother John P. Jones and wife Wanda of
Richardson, TX; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; 2 great-great
grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Bradford
House for the wonderful care she received during her time there.
