Samuel Lawson Higdon, 92, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away January 1, 2010 at Springdale
Health and Rehab. He was born March 11, 1917 in Richmond, Missouri to Alonzo L. and Polly
Patterson Higdon.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He enjoyed photography, bowling,
square dancing and was a member of the Masons and Eastern Stars.
Samuel is survived by his wife of 71 years Margaret Higdon, whom he married August 15,
1938; a sister-in-law Alpha Higdon; two nieces Barbara Nelson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri,
Marcia Hatfield of Kansas City, Missouri; four nephews David Higdon of Lake Lotawana,
Missouri, Allan Higdon of Wichita, Kansas, Philip Higdon of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kenneth
Higdon of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Benton County
Memorial Park in Rogers with Mr. Allen Moots, Chaplain of the American Legion Post #100
officiating. Full military honors will be provided.
