Holice Henrici

Holice Henrici, 85 of Bella Vista, died Friday March 12, 2010 at Circle of Life Hospice in
Springdale.She was born January 3, 1925 in Oklahoma City to Charles Hoshall and
Mabel Dickinson Hoshall.
Holice graduated from Central High School, in Tulsa, the Class of 1942. She went on to
the University of Oklahoma where she received a B.A. in 1946 in Arts and Sciences with
a focus on psychology and journalism. In her senior year, she received OU’s prestigious
Letzeiser Award, presented to an outstanding senior for good citizenship and achievement.
Holice was also named Big Woman on Campus, and appeared within “Who’s Who in
American Universities.” In later years, Holice received her teaching certificate and worked
toward her advanced degree from Centenary College and Louisiana State University in
Shreveport.
Holice had a wide range of hobbies and skills. She was a professional photographer,
Master Gardner, recent student of Tai Chi, and a cited author. She published two
interesting regional histories in 1985, based on her original research, about the local flavor,
complex personalities, and original inhabitants of Shreveport and Caddo Parish, Louisiana.
Holice later was a member of the Greater New Orleans Bonsai Club, a member of the
Bella Vista Repeater Group ham radio club where she served as secretary and vice
president, and the American Association of University Women. She and her husband
loved to travel stateside as well as internationally.
She was a longtime and active member of St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church, and was
elected and served as president of St. Ann’s Guild, Diocesan Council of Episcopal Church
Women as Northwest Convocation Coordinator, and Junior Warden on the Vestry.
Survivors include a daughter Jane Henrici and her husband Ryan Koch of Washington, D.
C.; a son Bruce Henrici and his wife Sandra, of Sugar Land, Texas, as well as two
grandchildren Lindsey Henrici and Andrew Henrici, both of Sugar Land; a sister Jackie
Hoshall Powell and her husband the Rev. William V. Powell of Stillwater, Oklahoma; a
niece Patti Powell Bonner and her husband Terry Bonner of Austin, Texas, and grand
nephews Ryan Bonner and Cory Bonner both of Austin. She was preceded in death by
her husband of 49 years William in 2005; and an infant daughter Barbara in 1956.
Memorial services will be 11:00AM Saturday March 20, 2010 at St. Theodore’s
Episcopal Church with Father Ken Parks officiating. Internment will follow in the
columbarium at St. Theodore’s.
