Bonnie Dee Taylor Hawkins, 86, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away
Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Circle of Life in Springdale, AR.  She
was born April 29, 1925 in Boulder, CO to Carl J. Taylor and Mildred
Henderson Taylor.
She attended the University of Arkansas, and was a member of Kappa
Kappa Gamma.  She kept and treasured the many friendships she made
during those early years.  She was fortunate to live in many parts of the
United States while working as a secretary in the oil and gas industry, but
felt the most rewarding and challenging time in her life was the 3 ½ years
she lived in Indonesia with her husband Bob.
Bonnie was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Rogers, and a
member of the P.E.O.   A breast cancer survivor herself, she was an
active volunteer in the American Cancer Society's Reach to Recovery
program from 1981-2002 counseling patients diagnosed with breast
cancer. She taught her children to “think clearly, love sincerely, to act in
everything with the highest motives, and to trust God unhesitatingly.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Robert “Bob”
Scott Hawkins, daughter, Carla Baker; and younger brother Carl J.
Taylor, Jr.  
Bonnie is survived by one son, Russell Hawkins and wife Linda of
Arcadia, OK; five grandchildren, Angie Steck of Dayton, OH, Sara Smith
and husband Jess, of Tulsa, OK, Ashley Savage and husband Justin of
Beaufort, S.C, Rachel Taylor Hawkins of Edmond, OK, Jenny Brunton
and husband Matt of High Wycombee, U.K.; two grandchildren,
Alexander Savage of Beaufort, S.C., and Bowen Smith of Tulsa, OK.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00AM, Monday, December 5, 2011 at First
Christian Church in Rogers, with the Rev. Shawn Wallace officiating.  
Visitation will be from 10:00AM until service time.
Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK
on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.
Memorials may be made in honor of Bonnie Hawkins to First Christian
Church, 905 South 13th Street, Rogers, AR  72756.
