Elizabeth Harris, 89 of Vaughn, died Tuesday March 2, 2010 at her home.
She was born March 14, 1920 in Trinidad, Colorado to Clair Venters, and Beatrice Munch
Venters.
Elizabeth moved to Northwest Arkansas at an early age and graduated as valedictorian of her
class from Vaughn High School. She and her husband Lee, were early pioneers in the poultry
business in Benton County in 1938. In 1951 they started the Harris Hatchery. Elizabeth also
helped Lee run their dairy farm and a brood cow operation.
Elizabeth had a great work ethic, was a hard worker, and provided well for her family. She was
a great wife, mother, and grandmother! Elizabeth was a longtime active member of Vaughn
Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter Beth Perkins and her husband Mike of Vaughn; a son Jimmy
Harris, and his wife Sherry, of Bentonville; four grandchildren Mary Beth Mann and her
husband Jeff of Rogers, Steve Stowers of Bozeman, Montana, Holly Harris and her husband
Kye, of Dallas, Jim Stowers, and partner Craig DeWolfe of Washington D.C., and 5 great
grandchildren. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Lee Harris as well
as 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be 10:00AM Saturday March 6, 2010 at the Vaughn Presbyterian Church
with Pastor Lynn Brown, and Pastor Will Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Barron
Cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be Layton Egger, Arthur Henderson, Mike Kirby, David Bisbee, Ron Scott, and
Eddie Frail.
Visitation will be 5-7PM Friday March 5, 2010 at Vaughn Presbyterian Church.
