Gene Lee Grace, 75, of Bentonville, passed away on Thursday March 18, 2010 in Scottsdale,
AZ where he and his wife resided during the winter months every year. Otherwise he resided
in Bentonville, AR. He was born on April 24, 1934, in Ware, Oklahoma and married Sharon
Cloe January 19, 1958.
He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sharon Cloe Grace of Bentonville, AR, two sons,
Michael Grace of Springdale, AR, Mark Grace of Paradise Valley, AZ; one granddaughter,
Hadley Grace of Springdale, AR; two grandsons, Jackson and Preston Grace of Paradise
Valley, AZ; one sister and brother-in-law, Sallie and Bill Green of Rocky Comfort, MO.
Gene graduated from Rogers High School in Rogers, AR in 1952. He served two years in the
United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he
enrolled in the University of Arkansas where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in
transportation and a minor in economics. Following graduation, Gene worked for the Missouri
Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad from June, 1960 until he retired January, 1990. He attended
Washington University in St. Louis while living there and received his ICC Practitioners License
in 1970.
Gene enjoyed most sports throughout his life. He also enjoyed his Hereford cattle the years he
farmed after he retired from the railroad. He enjoyed traveling.
His greatest joy in life was watching his two sons grow into men and now his three
grandchildren have been the light of his life.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Bentonville
Cemetery with Rev. Susan Ledbetter officiating.
